Power, prosperity, and resilience represent the most consequential and defining priorities for any nation. A nation’s long-term comparative advantage is built on national capability: the generational systems, structures, and frontier capabilities that enable it to endure, adapt, and compound advantage over time.

The Global Institute for National Capability (GINC) is an academic research initiative and data laboratory building decision-grade national capability ratings and system-level assessments. Founded and led by Patrick Brothers, GINC brings together a global research community of academic, government and industry experts to address a persistent gap in strategic analysis: the lack of a comprehensive, methodologically consistent framework for measuring and benchmarking national capability across domains.

GINC is developing a National Capability Framework that identifies and measures the foundational capabilities shaping national advantage. Using frontier-based benchmarking, we track how national capability evolves across domains and over time, delivering decision-grade assessments that inform long-term strategic priorities in policy, investment and institutional planning.
